Dance For Your Inner Child
“Ah, I wish I would have gotten into dance when I was younger.”
“I'm a dance instructor,” I explained as I introduced myself to a wife of my husband's friend.
“What kind of dance?”
“Well I do everything except hip hop,” I laughed.
“Ah, I wish I would have gotten into dance when I was younger,” she lamented.
I had heard this regret over and over again. It was always an admission that hung heavy with regret, projecting the feeling of remorse for opportunities missed and not being able to turn back the hands of time.
When did we ever get the idea that because we grow up, we have to be a grown up?
I often think that Walt Disney most likely received eye rolls and stifled chuckles when he first spoke of fantastic ideas of a mouse driving a steamboat, but who is laughing now?
Have you seen the huge number of adults that flock to Disney to visit or revisit their youth? If you've lost sight of that little one laying dormant in your being, well, look no further than moving!
If you are still able to skip, and remember how, try it out. My college professor remarked that he thought there must be some sort of muscle attached from skipping to the corners of the mouth.
Even if your skipping days are gone as an adult, stretch your arms out wide and recall the feeling of carefree days of youth.
There's no doubt that moving connects us to our inner child because movement is deeply connected to our younger years.
So, if I told you there was an easy way to gift your inner child those ballet classes you always wanted, or re-introduce you to the blithe days of skipping and laughing, would you take it?
That's exactly what I did when I created Dandelion & Opal, online dance studio. It's an option to reach those who cannot reach a traditional dance studio setting, due to logistics of time, availability, confidence, or education.
I hope to share the art of dance with you, where ever you are!
Dandelion & Opal’s mission: Transforming women’s lives through fitness, inspiration, and motivation using the art of dance with accessibility and inclusion.
I created Dandelion & Opal to reach women who cannot attend regular, traditional studio classes due to logistics of time, availability, or lack of self-esteem and confidence. Courses are created at home, for your home, and designed for small spaces. Not only is it an educational journey, but also a motivational and gamified one!
With Growth and Gratitude,
Ms. Nicolyn
