Just Start

Don’t worry about what the end will look like, or even about how you’ll get there.

It’s officially happening! I’m so excited to announce that Dandelion & Opal will launch in 2025.

It’s already that time of year where we all seem to do a lot of reflecting. But this season, I have been reflecting on my personal journey as well as my business journey and how they go hand in hand. You see, I can’t talk about Dandelion & Opal, without talking about my own journey.

You can read about that in my previous blog post “Why I’m Launching Dandelion & Opal.” Now, I’m reflecting on the past year of creating this business. It was a selfish endeavor. It was what I wanted to do; to teach, to be creative, to create a community, and not to be so bored that my eyeballs would roll out of my skull. I did what I always do. I worried, I overanalyzed, I judged myself into a paralytic state.

But then, I decided to go back to my simple rule for myself in those scenarios. I just started. It’s something I’ve been doing for a while as a creative. Just start. Start with no end in sight. Start with no pressure to be perfect. Start with every idea, and get it on paper.

Ah, the simple power of just starting.

Just start and I promise, you will get out of your own way. Just start and you certainly won’t be stuck spinning your wheels in the same spot you are now.

In the case of Dandelion & Opal, I knew that I wanted it to be a very different experience than anything else I saw on the internet. I wanted it to be logical, goal oriented, easily achievable, inclusive, and FUN! Yeah, ok. Go create that, no pressure or anything.

So I started with the foundation, and trusted that creativity would visit me.

And guess what? It did.

One day, while in the shower, it all came flooding in. The theme and the throughline for the first course came rushing to me. I ran to jot down all of my ideas, and over time, creativity collaborated with me in order to create the course you will soon see live next month!

Whoever needs to hear this, just start.

If dancing was always something you longed to do, or if dancing was something that was never on your radar and suddenly, serendipitously, you found yourself reading this blog post, at this space and time, and your interest is piqued trust that you are here for a reason. Cliches get to be that way because they are true. The journey has to begin with one step. You won’t have to worry about one step. One step is manageable.

Don’t worry about what the end will look like, or even about how you’ll get there. I created this studio, and this beginner course, for you my friend. Take a look around, email me questions, take a deep breath…

and just start.

Dandelion & Opal’s mission: Transforming women’s lives through fitness, inspiration, and motivation using the art of dance with accessibility and inclusion.

I created Dandelion & Opal to reach women who cannot attend regular, traditional studio classes due to logistics of time, availability, or lack of self-esteem and confidence. Courses are created at home, for your home, and designed for small spaces. Not only is it an educational journey, but also a motivational and gamified one!

With Growth and Gratitude,

Ms. Nicolyn
